Updates from Compliance:
  • 182 HIGHLAND AVE- ANNA VAZ CONCEPTS- Signs installed without permit and/or approval. Application was submitted several times, incomplete. Property owner took the sign down. Store owner was advised to submit a completed application.
  • 290 FERRY ST-COSMESTIC DENTISTRY -Signs installed without a permit and/or approval. Warning notice was hand delivered to the office. Application was submitted incomplete, they were notified a few times, and after a period of time, they finally submitted a completed application, several tickets issued. Tickets are unpaid at this time, approximately $1,300.00 On the docket for today's meetings.
  • BRYANT ST at BIKE PATH- YOUR COFFERY - Sign was removed from city property.
  • 38 PIERCE ST- CESA LANDSCAPING - Sign was removed from city property.
  • 94 MAIN ST- CLEI JEWELRY - Sign installed without a permit and/or approval. Spoke with property owner, will submit an application. There was also a large pennant on the sidewalk, they were told these are prohibited and must be removed.
  • 148 MAIN ST-FRESH START DAY CARE -Signs were installed without a permit/and or approval. Owner was advised to apply for a permit. There are also 3 large pennants. They were advised that pennants are prohibited and must be removed.
The following designs were considered for approval:

  1. The Committee reviewed a sign application from Mystic Valley Reginal Charter School located at 31 Granite St. Al Carrier from Carrier & Associates was present. The Committee voted to deny the sign application. The building is located in Residence A which does not allow commercial signs. Mystic Valley Regional Charter school can apply with Board of Appeals. Denial letter and Appeal form will be sent to Al Carrier. Motion was made by Nelson Miller, Seconded by Ari Tayloer 0 Yea 3 Nay

  2. The Committee reviewed a sign application from Markita Beauty located at 58 & 58A Summer St. Guillene Marcellus was present. The committee voted to approve the wall sign. The window signs were approved with conditions that the window dimensions and sticker sizes be made smaller. Guillene to send via email to Inspectional Service Department for electronic approval that conditions are met. Motion made by Ari Taylor. Seconded by Nelson Miller 3 Yea 0 Nay

  3. The Committee reviewed a sign application from Route 99 Auto Collision located at 1114 Eastern Ave. Mara Marques business owner was present. The Committee voted to approve the sign. Motion made by Ari Taylor. Seconded by Nelson Miller. 3 Yea 0 Nay

  4. The Committee reviewed a sign application from Wing Stop located at 44 Broadway. Alex Antoninick from Ideniticom Sign Solutions was present. The Committee voted to deny the sign with conditions. A sign meeting the 40 sqft total can be submitted electronically and approved or a Board od Appeals form can be filled out to seek approval of the sign which was proposed at 58 sqft. Motion made by Nelson Miller Seconded by Ari Taylort 0 Yea 3 Nay

  5. The Committee was unable to review an application from Flyra Aesthetic located at 134 Pleasant St due to no one present at the meeting.

  6. The Committee Reviewed a sign application from Malden Cosmetic Dentistry and Implants located at 290 Ferry St. Rajina Manandher from the business was present. The committee voted to deny the sign application until all tickets for having a sign up without a permit issue or the Committee's approval are paid in full. The Committee also informed the applicant that all window stickers must be removed due to them covering the full window pane of glass. When a new application is submitted they will be denied and sent to the Board of Appeals due to the business being located in Residence A which does not allow commercial signs. Motion made by Ari Taylor. Seconded by Nelson Miller 0 Yea 3 Nay
